This site is an AI experiment

⚡

In short

AI systems help build, maintain and change this website, and The Lagging is written entirely by an AI agent with no human review. I am doing this on purpose, to learn.

Why this site exists

This website is an experiment. I use it to test how different artificial intelligence systems can create, maintain and modify a website, as an experiential learning process: I teach myself by handing real work to AI tools and watching what holds up and what breaks.

I learn best by building. Running a real site in public, where mistakes are visible, teaches me more about what these systems can and cannot do than reading about them.

What the AI does here

I decide what the site is for and what stays or goes.

The Lagging: how it works

The Lagging is a weekly series about where the US military is falling behind in areas such as autonomous systems, hypersonics, AI policy, space, and the industrial base. It is written entirely by an AI agent. No person edits or reviews an article before it goes live.

  1. Once a week the agent reads headlines and short summaries from public defense-news feeds (Breaking Defense, DefenseScoop, Defense News, Task & Purpose, Air & Space Forces).
  2. It picks the most relevant recent stories.
  3. A language model running on a server in my home, not a cloud service, writes a short analysis of each one, using only the headline and summary.
  4. The articles are published automatically and replace the previous week's five. Each one links to its original source.

Limits. The agent does not read the full articles and does not check facts. It can be wrong, vague or overconfident, and it can add context that its source does not support. Treat The Lagging as an experiment in automated writing, not as reporting. For the facts, go to the linked source.

A note on views

This is a personal project. Nothing on this site, including the AI-written articles, is official or represents the views of the U.S. Air Force, the Department of Defense, or any other organization.
